Synopsis
While dining out with friends, Sy suggests the difficulty of separating comedy from tragedy. To illustrate his point, he tells his guests two parallel stories about Melinda ; both versions have the same basic elements, but one take on her state of affairs leans toward levity, while the other is full of anguish. Each story involves Melinda coping with a recent divorce through substance abuse while beginning a romantic relationship with a close friend's husband.

- TheInmostNightFOUR FRIENDS ARE HAVING DINNER, LOSING TIME ON THE SILLY DILEMMA "IS LIFE COMIC, OR IS IT TRAGIC ?". THAT’S SO IRRELEVANT, IS JUST THE PRETEXT TO TELL US THE STORY OF THE TWO MELINDA OR, IF I CAN SAY THAT, OF THE TWO WOODY ALLEN’S SOULS. THIS MAN IS A TRUE GENIUS, AND KNOWS LIFE IN VERY DEEP AND MATURE WAY, AND HE’S TOO SMART not to UNDERSTAND THAT LIFE IS AN ENORMOUS TRAGEDY AND HE’S TOO SMART AS WELL NOT TO LAUGH ABOUT IT. THE ACTORS GIVE US VERY GOOD PERFORMANCES STARTING FROM RADHA MITCHELL, SO GORGEOUS, ESPECIALLY PLAYING THE TRAGIC MELINDA, CHLOE SEVIGNY AND WILL FERREL ARE GREAT TOO,EVEN IF COMPLETELY DESTROYED BY ITALIAN DUBBING.BOTH STORIES ARE FULL OF GRACE AND I LOVE THIS MOVIE.
