Darby Lloyd Rains hailed from a middle-class theatrical family -- her song and dance man father appeared regularly in Broadway musical stage productions -- and started her career in show business as a nightclub singer.
Darby made the leap into explicit hardcore movies in the early 1970's as a means of earning extra money in order to support her singing career.
